On 10 October, Gevorg Rustami Khachatryan died as a hero in the battles for the freedom and independence of the Motherland.

“We sent him to the army with honor and glory. He was very happy that day. He wanted to serve in Artsakh. We never thought that we should release him from the army. We thought that he should serve and return,” his mother, Lilit Yeglaryan said, in the framework of “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series of Iravaban.net.

Gevorg’s parents lived abroad, but their elder son refused to leave the country, after which the parents returned to the homeland.

The mother said that when the boy was in the military service for two months, they visited him, but she did not recognize her son.

“He had changed a lot, he was more like a man, and he had become more broad-shouldered. He never complained,” his mother said.

Gevorg did not tell his parents anything about the war unleashed by Azerbaijan on 27 September, he constantly said that he was not on the battlefield, he was in the shelter.

“We have not found out where he was, what he was going through. On 26 September, relatives visited him, there was no trouble. Every time I spoke, I said: today is the last day, let’s be patient a little more. The last call was on 9 October. He was killed on the night of the 10th. I was at work on that day. There was something like a vision, Gevorg told me: “Mom, I’m here, find me.” We spoke with the commander, he said, “my boys gave a good “battle”, but at the end this happend,” Mrs. Lilit said.

Mrs. Lilit found strength in herself and had a son again. At the husband’s request, the boy was named after his elder brother, but the mother says that he is a personality and she is not trying to make her little one look like his elder brother.

“I have a son and I did not want him to be alone in life. Of course, we went through many complications, but my son was born,” the mother said.
