The network of NGOs protecting the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh was founded on March 12, 2024, uniting twelve civil society organizations.
Network member Anahit Kosakyan from the “Return to Kashatagh” public organization, in a conversation with Iravaban.net, addressed the depopulation of Kashatagh after the 44-day war of 2020, the complete occupation of Artsakh in 2023, and the problems facing Artsakh Armenians in Armenia.
She emphasizes that both then and now, the housing issue is among the primary problems.
“I consider it a priority that for both Kashatagh and the entire territory of Artsakh, the primary issue is the housing problem, and then comes the employment issue. At that time, the housing program had many shortcomings. We were constantly struggling with the Government. We managed to achieve certain improvements; the biggest shortcoming was that they didn’t allow having an apartment in Yerevan. We achieved having that removed, there was a change in the amount of money. We managed to implement a number of improvements. The next important condition was the issue of jobs, which was given some solutions after 2023,” says our interviewee.
As a problem, she mentions that the cultural characteristics of Artsakh’s regions are not being preserved.
