“They must also be able to ensure safety for pedestrians. Aren’t pedestrians citizens of the Republic of Armenia to ensure their safety? What does it mean ‘for security reasons’?” – this was stated by the father of the pregnant woman who died as a result of a hit-and-run, Sona Mnacakanyan, during a conversation with journalists after the court session, referring to the high speed of the motorcade.
According to Iravaban.net, Mnacakan Mnacakanyan noted that Pashinyan expressed his condolences and apologized to him, but during his last press conference, he stated that the “transport vehicle” transporting him had hit his daughter – he does not accept this approach.
Responding to the statement by the defendant’s advocate that Sona Mnacakanyan deliberately did not leave the area, carrying out a political action, Mnacakan Mnacakanyan replies: “There is an accepted expression – an advocate can defend their defendant by any means, but I’m not talking about moral norms, the advocate has bypassed these norms, hasn’t taken them into account. Judge for yourselves, could a seven-month pregnant woman go and independently conduct a political action, especially my daughter, who had just arrived in Armenia and was working abroad. What political action? The political aspect is that my daughter, believing in the changes taking place in Armenia, left a country like Denmark, came to Armenia and opened a subsidiary enterprise.”
He demanded 10 million drams in court for compensation, for the memorial stone and grave renovation works.
To the journalist’s question whether the victim’s side is satisfied with the court proceedings, Mnacakanyan replied: I am still satisfied, although several times court acts have been postponed in an unjustified way regarding the victim’s legal defender, I think they are doing it to buy time until five years pass and the statute of limitations expires.
