Verdict Announced in the Murder Case of Adrianna Garniki Lima

The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction for Criminal Cases, presided over by Judge Roman Smbatyan, has announced a verdict in the case of Ernest Enokyan, who was charged with murder.

According to the indictment, on August 20, 2023, around 4:30 PM, Ernest Enokyan unlawfully took the life of Adrianna Garniki Lima, after which he damaged by arson the apartment owned by Artur Rafiki Sargsyan, causing property damage in the amount of 3,466,000 Armenian drams.

It is noted that on August 20, 2023, around 4:15 PM, Adrianna Lima visited apartment number 59 in building 1 on Eznik Koghbatsi Street in Yerevan, which was rented by her and owned by Artur Sargsyan, for the purpose of demanding the return of 400,000 drams that she had previously lent as debt. During the conversation about the money, Adrianna Lima told Ernest Enokyan that he owed her only 100,000 Armenian drams.

Regarding the money issue, Ernest Enokyan made sexual insults directed at Adrianna Lima, which she painfully accepted, and taking a knife from the apartment, she tried to remove Ernest Enokyan from the apartment with the threat of the knife.

Seeing all this, Ernest Enokyan took the knife from Adrianna Lima’s hand and, with the intention of unlawfully taking her life, struck her multiple times with the knife. As a result of the injuries inflicted, Adrianna Lima died at the scene.

Ernest Enokyan used a lighter he had with him to burn Adrianna Lima’s bedroom clothes, after which he locked the apartment door with a key and fled.

As Iravaban.net learns from the “Datalex” judicial information system, the court decided to find Ernest Enokyan guilty under Article 155, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (unlawfully taking the life of another person) and sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment.

Ernest Enokyan was found guilty under Article 264, Part 2, Point 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (destruction or damage of property committed by arson, explosion, or other publicly dangerous means) and sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.

By partially combining the sentences in the form of imprisonment, the final sentence was set at 10 years of imprisonment.

The preventive measure of detention chosen against Ernest Enokyan was left unchanged, and the sentence will be calculated from August 21, 2023.

Of the property claim for 12 million 800 thousand drams presented by victim Artur Sargsyan, the demand for 9 million 334 thousand drams was left without examination, reserving the right for the victim to subsequently file a property claim for the specified amount through civil proceedings, while the demand for 3 million 466 thousand (the amount confirmed by the indictment) Armenian drams was considered resolved on the basis of actual compensation.

In addition, Ernest Enokyan is required to pay 774 thousand drams in court costs.
