The Court hearing in the case of Ernest Yenokyan, who is accused of murder, was held at the “Ajapnyak 1” seat of the Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan. The Presiding Judge Roman Smbatyan. Participants of the trial did not object to video recording and taking photos of the session.
According to the accusation, on 20 August, 2023, at around 4:30 p.m., Ernest Yenokyan illegally killed Adrianna Garnik Lima, after which he damaged the apartment owned by Artur Rafik Sargsyan by arson, causing a property damage of large amounts 3,466,000 RA AMD.
It is noted that on 20 August, 2023, at around 4:15 p.m., in order to demand back the 400,000 drams previously lent to Adrianna Lima, he visited 1 Yeznik Koghbatsi Street, apt. 59 in Yerevan, owned by Artur Sargsyan, which Lima was renting. During the conversation on the issue of money, Adrianna Lima told Ernest Yenkoyan that she owes him only AMD 100,000.
In connection with the issue of money, Ernest Yenokyan uttered sexual insults at Adrianna Lima, and the latter, accepted painfully and taking the knife from the apartment, tried to force Ernest Yenokyan out of the apartment by threatening him with a knife.
Seeing all that, Ernest Yenokyan took the knife from Adrianna Lima’s hand and stabbed her many times with the intention of killing her illegally. As a result of her injuries, Adrianna Lima died at the scene.
Ernest Yenokyan burned Adrianna Lima’s bedroom clothes with the lighter he had, after which he closed the door of the apartment with the key and escaped.
According to Iravaban.net , the Court session in this case started approximately half an hour later of the appointed time, due to the late bringing of the arrested defendant to the Court.
The escort mentioned that the workload was the main reason, and it was not only in this Court and in this session, and that there were many Courts where similar cases were registered due to problems related to service and car resources.
The session began very tensely, as the defense attorney of the accused, Sasun Rafayelyan, told the Court that the victim’s retorts did not stop several times, as soon as this session began, the retorts continued. After the previous Court session, as the defense attorney reported, the victim’s mother sent the defendant a box with the photos of her killed daughters’ child and a card with the words “Murderer”.
The representative of the injured party, the mother of the deceased, got angry, saying that they should be satisfied; she did not send other things.
The defender mentioned that these statements, received photos with their writings, should be accepted as reports and appropriate actions should be taken.
The victim’s mother said in response to the defense attorney’s statement: “The lawyer has nothing to do with all this, I sent it to their home on Easter.
He brutally slaughtered my 28-year-old child, and why shouldn’t I do anything to him? He himself robbed my child; the phones were missing for eight months, the phone worked on the 22nd of the month, until now the investigator has not dealt with the case. I have been living there, I left the house for 2 hours, was he going to kill me too? One day I will send something else, you see!”
The Presiding Judge noted regarding the situation, that the Court has the possibility to apply sanctions, but they are trying to bring the situation to the field of mutual understanding.
During the session, the public prosecutor presented a video, in which it was seen how the fire truck approaches the building where the apartment was burning, the other disc could not be viewed due to the failure of the computer program, the prosecutor will present it at the next Court session.
The public prosecutor presented material evidence to the Court in envelopes and noted that they include Ernest Yenokyan’s blood sample, left and right hand prints, fingerprints, samples taken from the scene, a bag with all its contents, a small piece of a knife blade, and other material evidence.
In this session, two witnesses involved in the case were questioned. The first witness was Levon Sarukhanyan. The witness said that he did not know any of the participants of trial, the victim’s mother had phoned him to find out details about the situation.
The public prosecutor asked if he knew Adrianna Lima, the witness said that he knew her, that he had used her services several times, and that the last time he saw the victim was in her apartment on the day of the incident. When asked whether he noticed tension with the latter or not, the witness said that she was restless, received calls, but did not answer. He learned about the incident in the evening, but he did not recognize the accused.
Next, witness Anna Grigoryan was cross-examined; she stated that she knows only the owner of the apartment among the trial participants. The witness said that their apartments are next to each other, she was at home during the day.
The victim had got acquainted with her in Artur Sargsyan’s apartment saying that her name was Adrianna. This was what the witness knew. On the day of the incident, seeing smoke coming from their window she called the Rescue Service, called Adrianna from outside, but did not receive an answer. She tried to open the door of the apartment, but failed. Half an hour before the incident, according to the witness, she did not hear strange sounds as such, but certain sounds were heard. The voices heard were mostly female voices, and she had not seen Adrianna’s body.
According to the witness, they never heard any noise from the apartment, they were not disturbing her. The questioning of the witnesses has ended, 4 more witnesses will be questioned at the next Court session.
At the end of the Court session, in a conversation with Iravaban.net, the victim’s mother stated that there is a problem with the execution of the investigator’s work. “The knife was not found, the phones have been missing for eight months, Adrianna was killed on 20 August2023. The investigator worked on 22 August, I sent these for him to look through, and he told me that I would be prosecuted. To this day there is no information about the phones, the 80 thousand dollars, and the gold. When I was living there I brought my jewelry and my money to my child. I was absent for only two hours, I was living there, in her house. He robbed and killed my child. I shall apply to change the investigator.”
The next Court hearing in this case will be held on 6 May.
