“I don’t understand whether it’s a weather blackout or a weak connection on his part. In any case, you’re being grounded, your feet have been cut off from the ground… The Tashir group members fighting against Armenia’s statehood have been activated…” For this post by the Prime Minister’s press secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan, businessman Samvel Karapetyan has filed a lawsuit against her, demanding a public apology.

Karapetyan’s other demand concerns defamatory speech, which would oblige her to publicly refute the posts made on June 17 and 24.

As we learn from the “Datalex” judicial information platform, it is stated that in case of inability to place the refutation text, Nazeli Baghdasaryan will be obliged, after the verdict enters into legal force, within 5 working days to come forward with a refutation through any print newspaper with at least 5,000 circulation and consumed throughout the entire territory of the Republic of Armenia, publishing the same refutation text that is required to be placed on Nazeli Baghdasaryan’s official page on the “facebook.com” social network.

The businessman has filed a lawsuit against Deputy Chief of Staff Taron Chakhoyan regarding five posts at once.

Specifically, regarding the posts: “For the sacrilegious ‘saints’ and their defenders, money has always been the motive and sanctity,” “…should know that the state and citizens also spit on him,” “This is Armenia, where those who fight against the state and statehood will feel the power of the state on their necks,” “Well, when we said the taste of the state will remain in your mouth, you didn’t believe it,” “He mediated once, the taste remained in his mouth,” “Armenia is not a shoemaker’s workshop where anyone can paste pictures on the walls. Nor is it the village of Nizhny Tagil in Kaluga…” These posts, according to Karapetyan, contain defamation and insults.

The basis for filing a lawsuit against political scientist Harutyun Mkrtchyan was his interviews and Facebook posts during two different days.

Samvel Karapetyan demands that the court oblige Mkrtchyan to publicly apologize to Karapetyan in a form determined by the court regarding defamation, as well as to refute what was said.

The factual data expressed in interviews made on June 19 and on June 27 on Harutyun Mkrtchyan’s official page on the “facebook.com” social network and considered defamatory: “With his statement of June 17, 2025, Samvel Karapetyan tried not to defend the Armenian Apostolic Church, but under that pretext intended to engage in politics in the Republic of Armenia under the control of other forces and for agency purposes, to the detriment of the Republic of Armenia,” the political scientist had written.

The lawsuit also includes the term “previously performed questionable charitable acts,” which, according to Karapetyan’s claim, is defamatory, false and unfounded.

Karapetyan demands from Mkrtchyan, as well as from Nazeli Baghdasaryan and Taron Chakhoyan, that the court, in case of inability to place the refutation text on Facebook, oblige them within 5 working days after the verdict enters into legal force to come forward with a refutation through any print newspaper with at least 5,000 circulation and consumed throughout the entire territory of the Republic of Armenia.

In addition, as compensation for moral damages, the businessman demands 9 million drams from each.
