Mom, don’t you understand, I have to go to the army now: Abgar Nazaryan. a soldier who had been serving for only two months saved lives at the cost of his life

Abgar Nazaryan, who died in the 44-day Artsakh war unleashed by Azerbaijan, served in the occupied Hadrut region.

He was drafted to the army in the summer of 2020. He was a soldier for 2 months when the war started. Abgar was included in the sniper platoon of the training battalion.

In 2020, he was admitted to the Faculty of Law of the French University of Armenia. Parents say that Abgar’s dream was to defend the interests of his country on international platforms. He said that this is an age of words, we must move forward with words, not with fighting or war, but with negotiations.

“When he was little, I used to read “Sasna Tsirer” to him, and he listened with enthusiasm. He compared himself with heroes. He used to say: Mher killed a lion at the age of seven, I am five, but I haven’t done anything yet, why am I falling behind? He always said far-sighted things,” his mother, Naira Nazaryan says.

She saids that his son’s martial arts teacher teacher told that Abgar said that Armenians had three important battles: the battles of Hayk and Bel, Avarayr and Sardarapat.

“He gave me a lot of advice and always protected me. Abgar had a quick temper, but not in my case,” his aunt’s daughter Lira Khachatryan says.

Abgar spoke with family members for the last time on 26 September. He said that he managed to hit all conventional targets.

“Then a jackal passed by, the commander told him to shoot the jackal as well, Abgar objected, he said: I will keep the last bullet to hit a further target,” the mother says.

The elder brother, Armenak Nazaryan, states that his brother managed to repulse the enemy’s attack with a small number of soldiers and remained in the position entrusted to him until the end.

Abgar had a dream, a desire to see the destroyed church of his native village, Kirants, standing. The family took steps in that direction to make Abgar’s dream come true.

Abgar Gegham Nazaryan was born in on 4 February2002. He died in the battles for the defense of the homeland on 29 September, 2020.
