The division was being bombed, the car was shaking from the wave: Mher and Davit miraculously survived in the war

Participants of the Second Artsakh War Davit Gevorgyan and Mher Saratikyan were drafted into the army in January 2019. Moving to Artsakh in April 2020, they got acquainted and continued to serve together. On the first day of the war, in the early morning of 27 September, the order “there is a target in the air” was sounded. The boys quickly got into the car and started performing the combat task.

“We were fighting with” OSA-AK “. At 7:30 we started the combat work and that day we were in the car for exactly 5 hours. During that time we managed to hit an UAV. When we were in the car, we heard some rumble, such rumbles that it seemed to us that someone was standing on the car and was jumping. Then we learned that the division was being bombed, and that wave was reaching our car, causing that rumble,” David says.

On the last day of the war, 9 November, the order “there is a target in the air” was sounded again. According to the boys, they had performed that task about 200 times in 43 days; they got into the car as usual. In a few minutes, “Bayraktar”, which controlled the car from the air for about 40 minutes to find out whether it was a model or a real one, hit the car.. The mechanic-driver Eduard Mkrtchyan and the commander Rafik Ordoyan were killed. As for David and Mher, they were injured, but miraculously survived.

In total, they were able to hit 22 enemy UAVs.

“After the war, I look with other eyes to many things that I did not pay much attention before,” Mher says.
