Hayk Tunyan, who died in the Artsakh war, was drafted into the army on 8 July, 2020. The mother last spoke to Hayk on 29 October.
“When we were seeing him off to the army, I hugged him and said: Hayk, remember, we don’t need a Tunyan hero, you come back, come back home.”
When we were leaving for the army, I hugged him and said, ‘Hayk, remember we do not need a Tunyan hero, please come back, return home,'” Hayk’s cousin Hasmik Tunyan said.
“He did not call for 2-3 days, I was worried, I said something has happened to my child. He was there in Hadrut, when the phosphorous bombs were dropped,” Hayk’s mother, Liana Mejlumyan said.
Hayk’s sister says that Hayk and 5 others did not obey the retreat order, stayed and fought for the position, 4 soldiers and 2 commanders. When the commander was shot, Hayk went and stood in front of the commander to protect him. The sniper shot Hayk in the heart and there were 2 shots to the head.
Hayk Tunyan was born on 6 February, 2002, and died on 31October.
