“Uncle Sashik reprimanded Narek”: Artur Ghevondyan testified on Hayk Sargsyan’s case

The court hearing on the case of Hayk Alexander Sargsyan, the nephew of RA 3rd President Serzh Sargsyan, has been summoned today at the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan Court of First Instance. The hearing is presided over by Judge Anna Danibekyan.

Artur Ghevondyan testified about Hayk Sargsyan’s case. He noted that he is in good relations with Hayk Sargsyan, as well as with the injured David Simonyan. The witness stated that he had nothing to do with the case, he was not aware of who shot him, and so on. The judge reiterated that the witness was obliged to disclose information to the judge, after which Arthur Ghevondyan provided some details.

In response to Prosecutor Abgar Arakelyan’s question, the witness stated that Hayk Sargsyan’s neighbor had bought food for their home on a given list and did shopping for the family.

In response to the prosecutor’s question, he also noted that the shooter was Hayk Sargsyan, and that it was accidental shot.

It should be added that the previous court hearings did not take place because of the attendance of the judge’s general meeting, the judge’s deliberation room, and the vacation.

It should be reminded according to the indictment, Hayk Sargsyan, on 1 April at around 4 pm in the room located on the ground floor of apartment 14 of building 11 in Tumanyan Street, Yerevan where he was registered, shot in Davit Simonyans abdomen from an illegally acquired and maintained pistol “SIGSAUER” with a purpose of intentional deprivation of life. However could not complete the crime due to circumstances beyond his will.

It should also be noted that Hayk Sargsyan was arrested on 11 July, 2018 and released on September 10 for 50 million AMD bail.
