Davit Simonyan, victim in the case of Armenia’s third President Serzh Sargsyan’s nephew, Hayk Sargsyan’s case, came to the court today with two security guards.
By the decisison of the court they were moved to the other part of the hall, to the opposite side of the glass wall where journalists and the relatives of the accused were. According to the judge, the presence of judicial bailiffs already provides his security.
Hayk Sargsyan’s lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, turned to the court asking from who or what they should defend the victim. He petitioned the court to send a request to the Chief of Police to clarify the issue.
He also mentioned that no document or decision was presented to anyone: a fact which raises a number of questions.
The presiding judge Anna Danibekyan also mentioned that there is no such decision in the court case.
The court rejected the motion.
Notably, Hayk Alexander Sargsyan is charged with the fact that on 1 April, 2007 at 4:00 pm in the room on the basement floor of apartment 14 on Tumanyan 11, Yerevan, under unrevealed by the investigation circumstances, David A. Simonyan was shot in the abdomen with the intention of depriving David Simonyan of life from a pistol. But Aleksander Sargsyan did not end the crime under circumstances beyond his will.
The SIG SAUER “P266” model pistol of 9 mm caliber, with imprinted number 7421361, was found as material evidence in this case.
