According to Article 23․1 of the Law on State Benefits, unemployed persons also have the right to receive maternity benefits. For the purposes of Articles 23.1 and 23.2 of the Law, a non-employed person is also considered to be a natural person who is exclusively a subject of a micro-enterprise and is not a sole proprietor, a person who receives income from an employer for performing work (providing services) on the basis of a civil law contract.
Maternity benefit is granted to an unemployed person if the application and the necessary documents were submitted during the period of eligibility for maternity leave (140 days).
