I was saying, Dad, don’t  go to the army, how can we live without you? He said I would not go, he cheated, he left: Vahan Tonoyan

Vahan Tonoyan, who died in the Artsakh war, volunteered to take part in the war. “He was very kind. I was scared of his kindness from the very first day of our marriage. I always thought I would lose him so soon for being so kind. He was very devoted to me and the children,” his wife, Mary Ghazaryan says.

According to the woman, Vahan’s only goal was to provide the children with a good future and to have their own house. “The goal was to rise worthy children, now that I can imagine how much work I have to do alone to rise worthy children, I am just terrified because I did not think I could be so strong,” she said.

The woman says that since the beginning of the war her husband has been restless, he could not sleep. “He said, ‘How can I sleep peacefully when I look at what happens to 18-year-old boys?’

Vahan left for the war on 8 October  and was in Hadrut on 11 October.

Vahan Tonoyan was born on 24 September, 1988, and died on 16 October, 2020.
