“The hearings on Hayk Kyureghyan’s case did not pass legally” – claims public defender Angela Hobosyan who is involved in this case.
Although she takes part in the hearings, there is no information in “Datalex” judiciary portal about her involvement. Besides, the advocate herself considers that she is not authorized to defend the rights of the accused.
On the other hand the accused has not managed to defend his rights all the time; from the very first hearing he claimed that he did not recognize the court as an authorized body, behaved disrespectfully toward the judge, so judge Armen Bektashyan used sanction against the accused to dismiss him from the court room for 10 hours. As a result the accused did not attend both the hearings and the phase of discussions.
Concerning this advocate Hobosyan said: “From the very beginning all the activities of the court made by now were illegal. I am not defender and Hayk Kyureghyan did not attend the hearings so as to express his opinion thoroughly. I did not carry out any defence, but he must have said his words.”
Notably, today the prosecutor made a motion to sentence Hayk Kyureghyan to 14 years of imprisonment.
