“Can you imagine how brutal the fight is, my friend was killed, I can’t move” – About Lernik Vahanyan

Lernik Vahanyan was born on November 29, 2001, in the Gagarin community of Gegharkunik region. Leaving his big goals for the future, he was conscripted into the army on January 20, 2020.

Lernik tried himself in various martial arts, but following the example of his father, Andranik Vahanyan, he chose medicine and was to become a dentist and work with his father.

His grandmother, Alvard Hovhannisyan, tells Iravaban.net‘s “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series that she had a very happy, sociable grandson. Lernik was offered to finish college and then be drafted into the army, but he refused.

He served in Jrakan. The grandmother says that he served well, they went and saw: “On September 27, he called and said that the war had started, and on September 29, it was the last call, we didn’t have any more calls.”

When talking to his mother, Lernik said that it was a very brutal fight: “Can you imagine how brutal the fight is, my friend was killed next to me, I can’t move.”

Fellow servicemen have told that Lernik applied his medical knowledge on the battlefield, helping the wounded and bandaging them. Lernik was killed on September 30, 2020, but his body was found a year later.
