Alik Petrosyan was dedicated to his work. A veteran of 3 wars, he defended his homeland until his last breath.
Ishkhan Petrosyan, Alik’s father, was a participant in the First Artsakh War. Both sons chose their father’s path, dedicating themselves to the defense of the homeland.
“He loved this work very much. When he saw his father going to positions, he wanted to go too. Then he studied and became a contract soldier,” the hero’s mother, Haykanush Arakelyan, told Iravaban.net as part of the “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series.
Alik’s brother, Erik Petrosyan, noted that their father did not tell them about military affairs or combat operations: “He said it’s not something to talk about, to say what it is, how it is. We had the impression that it was worth serving.”
The mother says she noticed patriotism in her sons from childhood and thinks it was passed down from their father. She didn’t want both of her sons to continue their father’s work, but she couldn’t do anything because they loved it.
“Alik was the first contract soldier in Gagarin. Even when he was in civilian clothes, there had to be a military shirt under his clothes. He was terribly patriotic. During the Four-Day War, I was in Yerevan. He called at 6 am, saying ‘Come quickly, I can’t say over the phone.’ I went – military operations had begun. In all three wars, we two brothers were together. We imagined the 2020 war would be like the Four-Day War; we didn’t think there would be an air war,” says Erik.
