In September 2022, a video of an Armenian soldier spread on the internet, who contemptuously rejected the Azerbaijanis’ offer to surrender and, until the last moment of his life, affirmed his calling as a defender of the homeland through struggle. That soldier was Taron Andreasyan.
Within the framework of Iravaban.net‘s “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series, the hero’s father and mother have shared stories about their son.
Upon hearing news of the war, Taron Andreasyan, who was in Krasnodar, Russia, returned to Armenia and voluntarily enlisted, participating in the 44-day Artsakh war. He left for combat operations on October 21.
When he learned about the enemy’s advance, Taron called his mother and said, “Hey, mom, aren’t there any fighters here? The Turk is coming and entering our bedrooms.” After that conversation, they learned that he was returning to Armenia the very next day.
“At that time, it was also the acute period of the pandemic, flights were few, and tickets were quite expensive. Later, his friends there also told that they tried to hinder him, kept his passport, but he searched and found it. Whatever they did, they couldn’t stop Taron,” recounts the hero’s father, Harutyun.
On September 7, 2022, Taron’s friends sent the video to his father; they already suspected that the soldier standing alone and without hesitation in front of so many Azerbaijanis was Taron.
Details are in the video.
