Iran is against turning the South Caucasus into arean of geopolitical competition, according to I RNA , the Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanani, said, referring to the Pashinyan-Blinken-Von der Leyen trilateral meeting held on 5 April in Brussels.
According to Kanani, regional cooperation is important in establishing peace and stability in the Caucasus, he also emphasized the need to use regional capabilities, including the “3+3” format, to resolve unresolved disputes.
“Iran has repeatedly expressed its support for the territorial integrity of the countries of the region and the right to sovereignty over their land without changing the internationally recognized borders. It has also repeatedly called on Azerbaijan and Armenia, its two neighbors, to resolve their disputes through dialogue,” Kanani added.
