An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 was recorded in Niigata Prefecture in Japan today, on 9 January, and there is no danger of a tsunami.
According to the data of the Japan Meteorological Agency, at 17:59 local time (12:59 Yerevan time) underground tremors were recorded in the area of Sado Island belonging to Niigata Prefecture, which was already affected by the earthquake on 1 January. The source of the earthquake was located under water at a depth of 10 kilometers.
There are still no reports of casualties and damage caused by the earthquake. The movement of high-speed trains has been stopped in some regions.
