Information about fraud for purchases made by Wildberries’ users does not correspond to the truth, the banking operation was authorized by the customers themselves: the Company’s Press Service told RIA Novosti.
The media previously reported that scammers obtain credit card information, then link the card to a Wildberries user account and make fraudulent payments to a third-party company with a similar name. It was noted that one of the victims transferred funds to Wildberries Podol’sk.
The Press Service also noted that linking the card to the online platform is always carried out via SMS confirmation or push notifications, so unauthorized payments are possible only if the buyer himself transfers the bank data to a third party or installs a dangerous application.
“We urge buyers to be vigilant and not to provide their bank card data to third parties,” the Company concluded.
