RIA Novosti reports that the European Union calls on all parties in Kazakhstan to avoid escalation and violence, according to a statement by a spokesman for the union’s foreign policy.

“We call on all parties concerned to show responsibility and refrain from actions that could lead to an escalation of violence,” the document reads.
