Saakashvili said he would return if the people support

Georgia’s third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, said he would keep his promise to return to the country before the local elections with the support of the Georgian people. He is not afraid of arrest, Aliq.ge reports.

Shortly after this announcement, a movement for the peaceful return of Saakashvili began in Georgia. Tako Charkviani, the founder of the movement and leader of the opposition “Law and Justice” Party, said that more than 41,000 people had registered on the platform in one week.

“Misha has two hands, two feet and one mouth. And this mouth will be closed in a couple of minutes if the Georgian people do not move and do not help Misha in any way. We have a few days left to act,” Charkviani said.

Saakashvili is not a citizen of Georgia at present. He automatically lost his citizenship when he violated the procedure for obtaining dual citizenship while obtaining Ukrainian citizenship. After Saakashvili’s departure, the Georgian Dream Government accused him of a number of crimes related to abuse of office.
