Soldiers will not stay hungry and unarmed: Eric carried weapons at night and was on duty with the others during the day

Eric loved driving the car the most. He studied and went to the army as a driver. He served in Artsakh, in Martuni, he never complained about his service. Everything was fine before the war started.

“He called a little late on the 27th, but he was very happy, everything is fine with us, do not worry. Each time he was the one who reassured us, as if we were at war, not them.

As a driver, he took all the responsibility, saying that the soldiers will not stay hungry, nobody will be left unarmed. He was the only driver of Martuni II who delivered weapons and food to the boys all night for 34 days, drove all night, stood in the posts with the guys in the morning, was with the guys, without rest,” Erik Galstyan’s mother, Arusyak Galstyan tells.

Eric’s cousin Vardges Galstyan, volunteered to reach his brother when he learned that war had started. Vardeg’s wife was pregnant, but the fact did not keep him back either. “He kept telling me I’ll go and reach Eric,” Eric’s mother says. Unfortunately, both of them died, they did not have time to see each other.

The car was blown up twice, he was blocked, but he was miraculously saved․ He survived many trials, I wish he had been saved that time also….”

Eric was posthumously awarded the “Combat Service” medal by the President of Artsakh for his courage and bravery for defending the state border of Artsakh.

Erik Galstyan was born on 31 October, 2001, he died on 30 October for the defense of the homeland.
