Vardges Galstyan participated in the Second Artsakh War as a volunteer. He wanted to reach his cousin Eric, who was in the military service and on the battlefield.
Vardges’s wife was pregnant when the war started, their second child was to be born. “They sent him back from the village administration twice, but he did not change his mind. Knowing that the wife was pregnant, he was still struggling to reach the battlefield and realizing what was happening there, he did not change his decision. Even the wife’s pregnancy did not keep him back, he left, but did not reach Eric, they reached each other in heavenly life,” the mother, Arshaluys Hayrapetyan says.
“He was devoted to his family, he was very loving. Even in the village, when the children came and said, ‘Vardges, take us somewhere in your car, oh, he didn’t have the word ‘no’, whoever asked something he would not refuse,” his father, Tigran Galstyan said.
According to the father, the only son was the only hope for the continuation of his family․ “He was my hope and faith. I am sick, I have three stents in my heart, and he had to support his family. He was my hope, he was the continuation of my family, I had high hopes for him that my family would live normally after me, but․․․.
The servicemen told that it was foggy, the enemy suddenly attacked. “Vardges immediately started working for the ПК. He raised to go forward, they hit him. He did not say that he was injured. He fought like that for four hours. Then he bled, the boy had just realized that he was injured, before they brought him down to the road, he died on the way,” the father said.
Varges Galstyan was born on 17 January, 1995, and died on 28 October in the battles for the defense of the homeland.
