Samvel Khachatryan, who died in the Artsakh war, was drafted into the army on August 13. He served for 1.5 months when the war unleashed by Azerbaijan began.
“I have always been against it, I thought that the person who loves the job should serve, we offered Samvel to leave the country, he said, I will serve for 2 years, I will not run away,” Samvel’s mother, Marianna Khurshudyan said.
“He loved life, he made every second a holiday and we always felt his love that was transferred to,” his friend Meline Malkhasyan told.
The mother last spoke with Samvel on 10 October. “He called in the morning, he talked to all of us that day, we did not hear from him on the 11th, the news arrived on 12 October, the war ended for us just on that day,” the mother said.
Samvel’s comrade-in-arms, who was with him on the last day, told his parents that they were helping the wounded. During the second bombing, Samvel did not have time to go into the shelter and was wounded in the back.
“I’m really happy, it does not matter that the war put its rules in all this, but I’m a very happy and proud person because I had Samvel,” the mother said.
Samvel Khachatryan was born on 28 February, 1999, and died on 12 October, 2020.
