Macron did not respond to the insult by Erdogan

French President Emmanuel Macron did not respond to the provocative words of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, who called him “a burden to France,” and called for respect. RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, Erdogan said that France is going through a very dangerous period. The Turkish leader expressed hope that the republic “will get rid of the burden of Macron as soon as possible.”

“I believe in respect,” Macron said in an interview with French online publication Brut.

“Insults between political leaders is the wrong method,” he said.

Conflict between Erdogan and Macron escalated amid recent events in Nagorno-Karabakh, such as the scandalous assassination of a pedagogue in the Paris suburbs, after which Macron called for “liberating Islam in France from outside influence and tightening control over mosque funding.”
