People who try to hinder the implementation of the statement must understand that the alternative is war.  Russian President Vladimir Putin stated, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that there were attempts to change the nature of the peacekeeping mission.

Putin hopes that the forthcoming consultations on Karabakh will help in the further settlement of the process.

During the meeting on the Russian peacekeeping operation in Karabakh, the President noted that he had agreed with his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts that a Russian interdepartmental delegation would be sent to the two countries in the near future.

Putin noted that the task of the delegation was to discuss the most urgent issues of the implementation of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on the 9 November ceasefire.

“I hope that the forthcoming consultations will help make significant progress in these areas,” Putin said.
