Armenians and Italians held demonstration in Milan

On 6, October a peaceful demonstration was held in front of the Milan City Hall in La Scala Square, dedicated to the criticism of the aggression of Azerbaijan and Turkey against the Artsakh Republic. During the rally, calls were made in favor of the international recognition of Artsakh’s independence. Representatives of the Armenian community from different cities of Milan, Italy, as well as the Italians supporting the community, expressed their support to our compatriots in the homeland.

During the rally, the President of the Union of Armenians of Italy, Paykar Svazlian, said that the Armenian Union of Italy called on the President of Italy, the Prime Minister of Italy, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify their views on the aggression against the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).

Gayane Khodaverdi, chairwoman of the AGBU Milan branch of the Union, stressed that one of the main goals of the demonstration was the recognition of the independence of the Artsakh Republic.

The caring pastor of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Italy, the gifted T. Tirayr Vardapet Hakobyan stressed that Armenians united all over the world, from Europe, which was considered the cradle of truth, today we demand to recognize the truth, we are ready to fight for the sake of our homeland, for the sake of the truth.

Political representative, journalist Alessandro Litta Modignani, who is a member of the “+ Europe” party, spoke about the massacres in Baku, Sumgait, as well as the right of the people of Artsakh to live in an independent, free country.

A few days before the peaceful demonstration, the Armenian community had raised money to donate to the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
