On 22 September, the newborn daughter of 30-year-old Seda Asatryan, who died after giving birth on 18 September at Shengavit Medical Center, was discharged from the hospital.
Seda’s relatives submit their complaint, noting that the mother died due to a mistake made by Ashot Sirunyan, the Deputy General Director for Medical Affairs of the MC.
Hovhannes Harutyunyan, the godfather of the marriage of Seda Asatryan and her husband, Grigor Abrahamyan, mentioned in a conversation with journalists, “We do not say he is a bad doctor, they write that he is fine, why do you discredit him, and so on. We know he is good, now he is a doctor by name, but why did they keep her for 5-6 hours and did not record the death, she suffered for so many hours. Why did they not perform a caesarean section? The doctor knew that she was allergic to that drug. Why did they not try it before the injection?”
He raised a number of issues, noting the inaction of the police, etc.
According to Hovhannes Harutyunyan, the day after the death, the woman’s husband, Grigor, approached the doctor and asked if the woman had seen the child. The doctor said, “Yes, we put her in her arms.”
How the deaths have been covered up so far, why the relatives of those people have not been consistent, they cannot say, but this is not the case and the relatives will go to the end. Seda’s brother Sevak Asatryan said this in a conversation with journalists.
“Let them realize, let that doctor realize, that neither the money in his diplomatic pouch will save, nor…” the brother of the dead woman said.
“If you ask those who know Dr. Ashot Sirunyan and deal with him, everyone will tell how he was coming to consultation to Gokor’s (Seda’s husband), he said that the man was so busy that when asked a question, he and answers quickly in the movement. It is very possible that he could forget to look that day, he is a good specialist, he is very busy, and it is possible that it was because of his mistake,” Seda’s godfather Hovhannes Harutyunyan said.
According to Hovhannes, while talking to them, the doctor said, he regretted and admitted his mistake. Later he said they did everything right, no mistake.
“I want everyone to sober up, to be disciplined, I do not want them to experience such pain, the doctor should not be tired, there should be a number of patients,” said Grigor Abrahamyan, the husband of 30-year-old Seda Asatryan.
Lawyer Narek Aloyan told reporters that Seda Asatryan was registered in the MC in February 2020 for antenatal care. “During the registration, in her personal file, in the medical card, there was a clear indication that she has an allergy to the drug “Ceftriaxone” and causes anaphylaxis. According to the preliminary agreement, that is, there was no force majeure, unforeseen delivery on the predetermined day, the doctor approached, started the process of providing medical care. During the medical service, an injection was made, which caused an allergy, followed by anaphylaxis, and finally death. The first question, when the person has been registered in the MC since February, and the relevant officials of the center were clearly aware that she is allergic to antibiotics, why haven’t doctors prescribed antibiotics that do not cause allergies in recent months? Isn’t this inaction? If it is not inaction, we expect legitimate justifications. Second, on what grounds was made the decision to “ampicillin” injection? “We have an order from the Minister of Health, according to which that medicine is in the same group as “Ceftriaxone”,” the lawyer said.
According to Narek Aloyan, they submitted a motion to charge Ashot Sirunyan.
“Shengavit” Medical Center does not accept, there was no omission․ Rusudan Vardanyan, Deputy Chief Physician of Shengavit Medical Center, obstetrician-gynecologist, candidate of medical sciences, said about this. She mentioned that the birth was natural. As for Ashot Sirunyan’s work, she mentioned that the doctor still continues his activity.
It should be reminded that a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Committee on the case, according to Article 130, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code (Failure to implement or improper implementation of professional duties by medical and support personnel, which negligently caused the death of the patient).
