French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called on Baku and Yerevan to reach an agreement on the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from Armenia. The ministry issued a statement on Monday following telephone conversations between the minister and his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts Jeyhun Bayramov and Ara Ayvazyan, TASS reports.

In connection with the recent tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Jean-Yves Le Drian reminded of France’s great concern over its commitment to preserving Armenia’s territorial integrity. “France is closely monitoring the situation and calls on the parties to continue discussions to ensure the immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from Armenian territory,” the statement said.
