The two brothers took part in the Artsakh war, but unfortunately Artavazd did not return

“Two brothers were serving together. I was telling the elder brother, ‘Karapet, ask your brother, to stay smart,'” Narine Markosyan, the mother of Artavazd Asatryan, who died in the Artsakh war says.

The mother of the two soldiers says that she was going to leave for Artsakh voluntarily. “I left work and went to volunteer. My son called and said, ‘Mom, do you think that we are here so that you will also volunteer? Go back.”

According to the brother, they served together for a year and 3 months. “He had a year left to come home, from then on he started reading, so that he would be able to be admitted upon return. Our political officer came and said, “I asked your brother for a book, but he said that he was studying and he could not give.”

The brothers were in different positions during the war, they could not talk to each other. They met on the battlefield on 3 October. The elder brother, Karapet, told Artavazd, “Can you imagine where we are? We must be very careful to get a chance and get back.”

Artavazd fought in Jrakan (Jabrail), Varanda (Fizuli) and was wounded by an enemy sniper. “I was in Martuni, my brother in Jrakan, but he did not tell me that he was leaving,” he says.

Artavazd Asatryan was born on 8 June, 2001, and died on 7 October, 2020 in the battles for the defense of the homeland.
