On 11 August the court hearing on the accident of Horom crossroad took place in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Shirak marz. The accusing prosecutor made a motion to put off the hearing for 30 minutes.
After the break the accused Manvel Vardanyan said his last words: “Honorable Court, the demanded punishment of 9 years imprisonment for me is a whole life. I’ve told form the very beginning that I drove the car. I did not use drinks. I drove the car in 20-40 km per hour. Although I did not stop at the “Stop” sign but I stopped at the crossroad and did not notice a car. I am the only breadwinner of my big family. I have a pensioner parents. My two daughters study excellent. My 8-year-son is invalid. I am not a criminal, I ask you not to treat me as a criminal. I only ask you to set my attainable punishment.”
After an hour the court declared the accusation and recognized Manvel Vardanyan guilty, setting punishment of 8 years of imprisonment and deprived him from driving license for 3 years.
After the declaration of the accusation Gurgen Tumanyan, the successor of the victim, was crying out that 8 years was not enough for Manvel.
