Today, on 10 August, the judicial examination in the case of the 3rd President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, the owner of “Flash” LLC Barsegh Beglaryan, and the Head of the Plant Breeding Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Gevorg Harutyunyan, is underway in the Avan seat of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.
According to Iravaban.net, Serzh Sargsyan is being questioned in court today. Answering the questions of the Public Accuser’s, he mentioned that he had known Barsegh Beglaryan since 1971 and they were friends since that year. Serzh Sargsyan answered the Prosecutor’s question whether he remembered any other details about the case. “I presented in detail during the preliminary investigation whatever I remembered, “
The 3rd President stated in court that he only told Sergo Karapetyan that the program should be implemented on time and with quality. “I did not give any other instructions.”
After several questions from the Public Prosecutor, Presiding Judge Vahe Miaskyan started asking the defendant questions. He asked if Serzh Sargsyan had a separate meeting with Sergo Karapetyan regarding the program. Serzh Sargsyan gave a negative answer. “There was such a way of working. The ministers regularly reported to the President of the Republic about the situation of affairs in their assigned sphere. That is all.”
The Judge read a part of Sergo Karapetyan’s pre-trial testimony, in which the latter informed about the meeting between him and Barsegh Beglaryan. At that time, the owner of the “Flash” LLC said that he could lower the price of fuel by 2 drams and said that he agreed with the President of the Republic on organizing the import. Karapetyan told the 3rd President about the meeting with Barsegh Beglaryan.
“Serzh Sargsyan said: give it to him, let him organize the supply,” Sergo Karapetyan told the investigator in his preliminary testimony.
The Judge asked the defendant why Sergo Karapetyan had to give a testimony of such content, if Serzh Sargsyan did not have a meeting with such content.
“I don’t want to make assumptions. Let the court make a guess as to why Sergo Karapetyan did not give such a testimony either during the first or the second interrogation,” Sargsyan said in the court and once again noted that nothing like that had happened.
Serzh Sargsyan’s interrogation is over.
