Rudik Sarkhoshev volunteered to participate in the large-scale war unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 27, 2020.
“He was mature with adults and gentle with children. He was very kind” – this is how his wife Raya Sarkhoshev describes her husband to Iravaban.net as part of the “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series.
Rudik Sarkhoshev’s son-in-law received a notice that he had to participate in the war. Not wanting to leave his son-in-law alone, he said that he must go too. His wife recalls arguing with her husband.
“I said, ‘Rudik, you’re too old, they won’t take you.’ He said, ‘Well, you’ll see whether I go or not. Woman, if I don’t go, and that one doesn’t go, then who will go? Who will fight, just the young ones?'” – the wife recounts.
Rudik Sarkhoshev was killed on October 10. Family members learned about this from the community leader. Later, they were told that out of 44 people who set out to return home, only 4 survived following enemy strikes.
