Macron is playing with Fire: Russian Foreign Ministry

French President Emmanuel Macron is playing with fire by starting discussions about the possible sending of military contingents to Ukraine. The Head of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexey Polishchuk stated in an interview with TASS.

“Such conversations cannot but cause concern. Politicians calling for military intervention in Ukraine are playing with fire,” the diplomat said, commenting on the corresponding statements of the French leader.

According to him, many Western politicians sacrifice the national interests of their own countries to the political situation and election interests. “It seems that they do not realize the risks of escalation and growth of the crisis. This is political infantilism. Our warnings about the consequences of continuing to pump weapons into the Kyiv regime are being ignored,” Polishchuk said.

Earlier, Macron said that at a meeting in Paris with the participation of representatives of about 20 Western states, the topic of the possible dispatch of ground troops to Ukraine was raised. According to him, the participants did not reach a consensus on this issue, but such a scenario cannot be ruled out in the future.
