We will tell about Abraham Marukhyan, the of our days in the framework of “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series of Iravaban.net.
“He was a world to me. I lost him, and it seemed to me that the world came to an end,” his father, Artsakh freedom fighter, volunteer Tigran Marukhyan said. His son Abraham followed his father’s path.
The mother, Mariam Shirinyan, remembers that her son fell asleep only under the song “Come to my nightingale”. “My husband sometimes told me not to make the son sleep under to that song, but he didn’t fall asleep under any other song.”
Abraham heard the stories about the Phidayis from his father.
Marukhyan dynasty was known for its patriotic figures. His father’s grandfather, Bade, was a Russian army officer in Bayazet. In 1830 during the withdrawal of the Russians, Bade accompanied the residents of Bayazet to Eastern Armenia. They settled in Gavar and renamed it to Nor Bayazet.
Detective Abraham took the oath of Fidayis. “He took the oath in 2016, near Monte’s grave.”
Along with studying at the university, he began attending the classes of the “VOMA” Patriotic NGO (School of Survival).
In 2018, Abraham graduated from the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University, received the rank of lieutenant and went to Artsakh to serve in the Mataghis military unit as the commander of an artillery battery, and in the last 6 months as the head of artillery intelligence.
Abraham finishes his service and returns home on 5 September 2020. After 22 days, the 44-Day War begins.
“He quickly put on his clothes and ran to VOMA. Then he learned that he had to leave in a few days, so he didn’t wait, he left in the evening. He said, “I have to reach my soldiers,” the mother says.
Abraham consciously went to face his death, remaining faithful to the Fidayi’s oath, the mountains of Armenia were his pillow. Parents say that Abraham’s greatest desire was to die for his homeland, he became immortal on 2 October, 2020.
