The day I got injured, only 100 days were left for me to be discharged, Seyran said in the framework of the “Second Artsakh War։ Those Who live and help to live” series of Iravaban.net.
Tanker Seyran Soghoyan was serving in the Vorotan region of the occupied Artsakh Republic when Azerbaijan unleashed a war against Artsakh.
“The history of my injury is very mixed. I was wounded by a sniper. When I got injured, I didn’t understand what was happening, I couldn’t feel my leg. When my friends took me out of the tank, a paramedic came to me for a moment, checked my pulse, I was not breathing at all and they thought I was dead, but I gathered strength and shouted that I was alive. My friends tell me that when I closed my eyes and they thought I was dead, they started to pray, I later remembered that I prayed at the same time, I didn’t consciously understand how I was praying, but my mouth was praying, and I just said, ‘Amen,’ and my friends also said, ‘Amen,’ I opened my eyes,” our interlocutor said.
Seyran appeared as missing in the hospital, his name was not known, his parents could not find him, but in this case a miracle happened to him. His childhood friend worked in the hospital where he found himself and informed Seyran’s parents where their son was.
“At that time, it was very important for me to see my brother, because he was also on the battlefield and a few days before I was injured, I lost contact with him and I was impatiently waiting for my brother to enter the intensive care unit, and when he came, I was relieved,” he said.
Seyran says that the first person who gave him strength was his mother.
“Unconsciously, I said that I can’t feel my legs. Mama said, “It’s okay, we shall feel them, don’t think about it.” Those three words motivated me a lot. Disappointment naturally occurred and continues to occur, but my first disappointment was that when I had to sit in a wheelchair, I took this fact very hard. In the beginning, I was lying down for a long time and my only wish was to at least sit, I still did not think about walking or standing. When I asked the doctor when I can sit, he said: after 6-7 months. I started to practice a lot and after just one week I sat down,” Seyran says and points out that everything is related to willpower.
