On 13 September, 2022, the enemy unleashed military operations against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, opening fire also in the direction of Syunik. Hovhannes Yeghiazaryan was defending one the combat positions, among other brave sons of Armenia.
His mother, Anush Khachatryan tells in the framework of “Immortal Victims of the Artsakh War” series of Iravaban.net. She remembers the birth of her son and his short but heroic life.
“It was such a happy day. The doctors told jokes and made us laugh. I did not even feel how my miracle was born. He was a light, a miracle. Hovhannes was a model of modesty. He was very quiet, but he could say something that would make us all laugh, he would get serious again. Everything was easy for him, wherever he put his foot, he would turn green. That is why I was calm for him. I was somewhat afraid that I might lose him, but then I was very calm,” Mrs. Anush says.
According to her, her son had a lot of goals and dreams. He said that after the army, he would start doing business.
The nature lover spent the service in Syunik.
“He would never and never tell about the positions, the boys, the military unit. He was in the service, but no word from the service. He only talked about his plans for the future,” his mother recalls.
Mrs. Anush emphasizes that her son left for the service in a very high mood, and she kept herself very strong so that her son would not see her tears.
“He didn’t like when he suddenly sees me crying. I kept myself really firm on that day. I saw him off, he didn’t see my tears, but for two months I could not believe that he was not at home,” she says.
They served sevotedly. This is how Mrs. Anush characterizes the feat of her son and fellow soldiers.
“He was a servant of two months, when he was transferred to Zanger. On 11 May, when the Black Lake was surrounded, the boys were taken there. Today, there are people who say: ‘what happened on 13 September?’ And you are surprised that there are such people. I did not believe that there were such questions. The parents said, I said, you must be joking, they said, no, Anush, people do not know what happened on 13 September. Today, no relevant body is interested in why the 9 boys were left on the mountain. The investigator says that a case has been opened, but they do not accept you when you go. We have been waiting for a year and four months for them to call us. There is no move, they do not exist. There is no interrogator yet, it is very terrible, for this nation. Nothing has been done. Today, we are waiting for all the answers and there is no such answer as to why our children did not get help,” Hovhannes’s mother says.
