We expect that the agreement reached as a result of Russian mediation on a ceasefire will be carried out in full: Russian Foreign Ministry

A ceasefire has been reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. reported

“We express our extreme concern over the sharp aggravation of the situation in certain areas of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on the night of September 13 of this year.

We call on the parties to refrain from further escalation of the situation, exercise restraint and strictly observe the ceasefire in accordance with the tripartite statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021.

We are in close contact with Baku and Yerevan. An appeal was received from the Armenian leadership with a request to assist in resolving the situation in accordance with the existing bilateral agreements and through the CSTO. We expect that the agreement reached as a result of Russian mediation on a ceasefire from 9.00 Moscow time on September 13 of this year, will be carried out in full.

As before, we proceed from the premise that all disputed issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means, and as far as border issues are concerned, within the framework of the work of the bilateral Commission on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with the advisory assistance of Russia.
