The Court of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan, chaired by Judge Anna Danibekyan, continues the examination of the case ED/0253/01/19.
The judge informed that the former RA Deputy Prime Minister, MP of the NA “Armenia” Faction Armen Gevorgyan submitted to the court the letter of the NA Speaker, according to which the business trip to participate in the regular PACE session will take place on 23-29 January.
In December, Gevorgyan’s lawyer Lusine Sahakyan informed that the PACE session would take place on 24-28 January. The Defender had mentioned that Gevorgyan, as an opposition deputy, should be present at the sittings, reminded about the parliamentary immunity, about which it was also mentioned in the last decision of the Constitutional Court.
However, the Court found that Gevorgyan could participate in the session online and, rejected the defender’s motion. Besides, the next court session on this case is scheduled on 25 January, at which, according to the judge, Gevorgyan’s absence is inadmissible. Gevorgyan, in his turn, responded that if he did not leave, he would have to participate in the session online and he could not be present at the court session either.
