Rafael Ovseyan was drafted into the army on 15 January, 2020.

“I will not share with others what I have shared with him. He was a brother with a very open heart, a different one,” Rafael Ovseyan’s sister, Milena Ovseyan says.

According to Rafael’s mother, Anna Ezhdaryan, the boy was very sad before going to the army. “He really wanted to go on vacation. On 17 September, we went to Jrakan, we surprised him, we stayed for 2 days, on the third day we were not allowed, they were upset, and we did not understand what was happening. They knew in advance that there would be a fight,” Rafael’s mother, Anna Ezhdaryan said.

Friends said that during the fight he talked a lot with the boys, encouraged ․ “We must fight to the end, no one should run away from here,” were Raphael’s words.

His father wanted to go to Artsakh, to be next to his son, he did not let him, “Father, promise that you will not come here,” the mother remembers the conversation between her son and father.

“He always told me, ‘Mom, when I shall return from the army, let’s have a brother’ and I said to him you will serve in the army, return and marry and you will have a baby.” The sister adds that the parents decided to have a child, to fulfill Rafael’s dream.

Rafael Ovseyan was born on 17 September, 2001. He was killed on 7 October, 2020 in the battles for the defense of the Homeland.
