Shahen Galstyan, who died in the Artsakh war, was drafted into the army on 1 5January, 2020, and was an artilleryman. He served in Lusakert, had incentives during his service, and was awarded two orders, and a junior sergeant. He shone with his knowledge, still during the service his photo was posted on the wall of Lusakert military unit. After 6 months he continued service in Kapan. Junior Sergeant Shahen Galstyan was the deputy platoon commander during the war.
“On 27, 28 and 29 September, I had no news from Shahen, he called on 30 September. I asked, ‘Dear Shahen, why aren’t you calling?’ He said, “I can’t, dear mother, don’t worry, if there is bad news, it will come itself,” his mother, Arpine Petrosyan says.
Shahen was killed on the day of the first ceasefire. “When he saw the drone, he ordered the guys to run. Ara Aghababyan was injured while running. Shahen came back to save his soldier, but he can’t. He lied down on his comrade-in-arms and takes the UAV’s blow on himself,” the mother says.
Shahen has been dancing since he was 5 years old. From the age of 13 they were representing Armenia in the Russian Federation, Georgia and European countries. They always took the first or second place in concert contests. After graduating from school, he entered the dance department of the ASPU. He was the soloist of “Berd” dance ensemble.
“He said we are a small country, I want the world to know us, because we have a centuries-old history, we have centuries-old art, the Armenian dance is very beautiful,” his father, Harutyun Galstyan says.
Shahen Galstyan was born on 20 August, 2001, and died on 10 October, 2020 in Jrakan (Jabrail).
