My son asked us to meet him like a hero: Ashot Sardaryan met the enemy with grenades

Ashot Sardaryan was drafted into the army on 19 January, 2020. He was at military service for 9 months.

He was wounded in the Artsakh war, his leg and face were injured. After spending a day in hospital, he returned to the front to continue his fight. After the the command to retreat, he took grenades from his friends and “meet” the enemy.

Ashot’s mother says that he did not say anything about the war. He had asked his family members to meet him like a hero when he came home, and he would sing loudly for his mother under the window.

Ashot Sardaryan was born on 4 July, 2001. From early age he loved to play the piano, but he was always ashamed to play in front of the people, he promised that he would play when he came from the army.

“As soon as he opened his eyes after being injured, he made sure that his hands were not injured,” Ashot’s mother, Hasmik Sardaryan says.
