Vladimir Zelensky on Monday took over as President of Ukraine. The solemn ceremony of taking the oath to the Ukrainian people was held at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
“I pledge to defend the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine with all my dids, take care of the welfare of the Fatherland and the welfare of the Ukrainian people, uphold the rights and freedoms of citizens, comply with the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine, fulfill my duties in the interests of all compatriots, raise the authority of Ukraine in the world”, the new president of the country, putting his right hand on the Peresopnytsia Gospel, and his elbow – on the constitution of Ukraine.
Further the Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission, Tatiana Slipachuk handed over to Zelensky a certificate of the President of Ukraine, and symbols of presidential power – a seal and a mace, and also put on him the President’s badge – an order chain with official medallions.
