Today, at the briefing with mass media in Khorenatsi Street, Davit Sanasaryan, the member of Yerevan Aldermen Council and another activist Artur told about the violence and humiliation that they underwent by the police, when they were detained and after that before they were released.
Davit Sanasaryan said that when he stated in Freedom Square that they should march to Khorenatsi Street to the PPSR, which was occupied by the armed group, Ashot Karapetyan, the Chief of Police of Yerevan called him aside and said that they would not go. He replied that they are the decision makers. They tried to negotiate. Sanasaryan requested direct airing on the TV. But his request was denied.
Then Sanasaryan was giving an interview to the journalists when the police approached and took him forcedly and put in the car. When he tried to call the protesters to move to Khorenatsi Street one of the red berets hit him in the face. “It was really painful. It was unprecedented brutality; we were three in the car. They were hitting all time, I got probably 15 blows in the head. They drag me out of the car and hit in the head with the heel. They said that it should no be as it was before. ”
Davit’s health state rapidly worse. When the other detainees said that he needed help, the red berets said that he was pretending. But when they saw that he was really bad then they called the doctor.
“They were hitting me when my hands were tied. They were teasing and saying that we felt like that as we were afraid. It was in the jm of the military station. When the doctor arrived, he offered to take me to hospital, they called him deliberately aside and kept for some 15 minutes, when the doctor was going to help me. I did not want to talk about it, but my friend has said, when I was tied they spit at me. We will not leave it like this. The bubble that the police has changed blew up, we should say that they are beasts,” Davit said.
Artur said that Davit and Andranik Aslanyan received most of the blows. “They did it intentionally, so that we feel pain. They were morally degrading. This was a shame the police. They tried to break us, but we shall stand.
