The Turkish authorities consider the explosion in the center of Istanbul to be a terrorist attack, which, according to preliminary data, was carried out by a woman. RIA Novosti writes.

“In our assessment, this was a terrorist attack, during which the attacker, who we believe to be a woman, used a bomb,” Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay said.

The official also informed that under the state of emergency, the number of injured has reached 8, the condition of two people is serious.

“We will go to the end, regardless of who is behind these cases, even if they leave to the other side of the world, we will bring the culprits to justice at any cost, Turkey is no longer the same Turkey, the incident will be investigated in a short time,” Oktay concluded.

It is noted that an investigation has been initiated against 25 social network users who made provocative posts after the incident.

The Consulate General of Russia announced that there are no reports of Russian casualties as a result of the explosion.
