The CSTO has issued a statement on the aggravation of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh

A statement on the situation with the resumption of the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh was posted on the website of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

The statement reads:

CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas expresses serious concern in connection with the resumption of 27 September this year. The armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, during which there are killed and wounded on both sides, including among the civilian population. The ceasefire has been violated, heavy weapons are being used, incl. artillery, tanks and aircraft, as well as attack UAVs.

The current situation is not conducive to the implementation of the 1994 ceasefire agreement and mutual obligations not to use force in the framework of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It is necessary to immediately restore the ceasefire and return to the negotiation process, which is being led by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The resolution of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is possible only by political and diplomatic methods.

The Collective Security Council, the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers in their statements have repeatedly called on the Parties to seek the settlement of conflict situations exclusively by peaceful means and refrain from provocative actions in order to prevent an escalation of tension.
