The decision of the Court of First Instance on Vardan Petrosyan’s case has come into force. The cassation appeal of the Hakobyans, the injured party in the tragic car accident, was returned and did not enter into court proceedings. This information was provided by Ruben Baloyan, Hakobyans’ advocate. “The courts ought to examine the claim but they haven’t, which is a violation of law,” – said the advocate in his speech. Ruben Baloyan added that he is planning to appeal the decision to the European Court of Human Rights.
On the 25th of August the advocate of the Hakobyans, the injured party in Vardan Petrosyan’s tragic car accident, had filed a civil suit against the actor with request to compensate the injured Tatevik Hakobyan’s medical treatment expenses and the costs for advocate’s services. On the 29th of January the Court of First Instance had sentenced Vardan Petrosyan to 5 years in prison depriving him from his driving license for a 2-year period. The prosecutor and the successors of the victims had filed a cassation appeal regarding punishment and lawsuit but the Court of Cassation had left the verdict of the Court of First Instance unchanged.
