The case on the Ex-Head of the Judicial Department and 12 employees of the same department started to be examined by the Court of First Instance on July 23, 2014 and the verdict was made on July 18, 2015.
At the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative District the Judge Arshak Vardanyan announced the verdict on the case lasting one year.
The Ex-Head of the department Misak Martirosyan was sentenced to 6 year imprisonment with the property confiscation for about AMD 720.000. The beginning of the sentenced is considered to be November 14, 2013. The Prosecutor Hakob Melqonyan put a motion of the 14 years term. The first Deputy of the Judicial Department Gegham Grigoryan was also sentenced to 6 year imprisonment and was applied a fine for about AMD 600.000. The Prosecutor put a motion of 9 years term.
One of the first deputies Armen Movsisyan was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment but was granted amnesty in 2013. Satenik Hovhannisyan, the Ex-Chief of the financial-banking department, the Chief Accountant was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment but the punishment was not implemented, according to Article 70 of the Criminal Code by establishing probation period of 3 years.
The Ex-Head of the Subdivision of the Service of Judicial Bailiffs at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Nor Nork Communities of Yerevan Bagrat Ayrikyants was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and was applied a fine for about AMD 300.000. The punishment was not implemented because of Article 70 of the Criminal Code.
The same punishment and probation period were also implemented towards the Ex-Head of the Subdivision of the Service of Judicial Bailiffs at the Court of Criminal Appeals of the RA Arman Palikyan, the Head of the Subdivision of the Service of Judicial Bailiffs at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Lori Marz Meruzhan Kyureghyan, the Ex-Head of the Subdivision of the Central Body and towards other accused ones. Satenik Hovhannisyan, Bagrat Arikyants, Arman Palikyan, Meruzhan Kyureghyan, Armen Avagyan were set free because of the amnesty granted in 2013. The issue of the AMD 115 million and more compensation caused to the RA Judicial Department has been solved because it was completely compensated during pre-trial and trial proceedings.
By the way, the Prosecutor was not present at the trial.
When the verdict was announced the people gathered there went to the corridor. On the one side from the door, the members of the accused Gegham Grigoryan’s family were sitting who has been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment and on the other side, the relatives of the accused Bagrat Arikyanc. Some of the relatives of both sides were crying: Bagrat Arikyanc relatives were crying because of happiness (the accused was granted an amnesty and set free) and Gegham Grigoryan’s daughter was crying because her father was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment.
