Today, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan herd the case of the former head of the Judiciary department and the others. Defendant Angin Ghukasyan presented her position on the accusation, which then turned to questions and answers.
She was charged for the fact that being an official of the department she reached a preliminary agreement with Misak Martirosyan and during July – December of 2010 received large bribes for employing the citizens Armen Petrosyan and Michael Stepanyan in the same entity.
Misak Martirosyan, the former Head of the Judiciary Department asked a number of questions to Angin Ghukasyan. During the questioning a dispute arose between Misak Martirosyan and Angin Ghukasyan. The latter expressed doubts that Misak Martirosyan had undertaken some stepts against her.
Then according to the public prosecutor’s and Misak Martirosyan’s pretrial motions the defendant’s pre-trial testimony was publicized. Here the speech was about 2 episodes of the bribe.
Angin Ghikasyan had told to the investigator, “In the Summer of 2010 the daughter of my husband’s friend came to my office and asked to help her son, Michael Stepanyan to be admitted to the job in the Court of Lori marz. I told her that there was a vacancy. After she left I talked about it to Misak Martirosyan, and he gave his preliminary agreement. However he demanded a sum of 1000 USD. Prior to that Mr. Martirosyan had told me several times that if there are reliable persons who would give а baksheesh, to inform him about that and he would support. I told this to Ruzanna and prior to the start of the tender for vacancy she gave me 1000USD in my office. I kept the money with me because Mr. Martirosyan was on a vacation. I passed it to him as soon as he was back and reminded that that was the sum for the position of the court clerk in Lori Marz. Martirosyan remembered it, took tha money and out it in his table drawer,” this was on the first episode. The second episode was in November. This time it was the employee of our staff Lilia Petrosyan, whom I knew. She asked to help her cousin, who could not find job. He had a legal education and work experience. Then the dfefendant talked to Martirosyan, reached an agreement and the latter said that the sum should not be less than 500 USD. Lilia brought 1000 USD. I put it into envelop and put on the table. After Lilia’s leaving the room I counted the money and saw that there was 1000 USD. I considered the fact that my previous “work was not remunerated” and took 200 USD from this sum. I passed the 800 USD to Martirosyan.”
Misak Martirosyan wil testify at the next court hearing.
